Industrial safety
Etango recorded its first lost-time injury after a 16-year incident-free period
2026-09-02; status checked through 2026-11-02 · issuer reported · medium materiality
Bannerman’s 29 September 2026 update says a contractor employee operating a compactor suffered a hairline fracture to his left foot on 2 September 2026. It was the project’s first lost-time injury and first in more than 16 years. The FY2026 annual report separately says there were no LTIs during the year ended 30 June 2026 and reports one million LTI-free hours in May 2026; those statements are period-consistent because the injury occurred after year end. The issuer called it a “reset” and said it would reinforce personal safety; no regulator investigation, prosecution, corrective-action finding or later medical outcome was located by the 2 November 2026 cutoff. Turney’s project-advisory role overlapped with the Etango project; no personal or supervisory link to the contractor’s task was disclosed. The 29 October quarterly report restated the 2 September incident and the company’s safety-leadership response; no later regulator or corrective-action disposition was located by the 2 November cutoff.
Attribution: Role overlaps event; causation unproven. Turney’s project-advisory role overlapped with the Etango project; no personal or supervisory link to the contractor’s task was disclosed.
Relevance: Safety leadership and contractor controls are material as Etango shifts from early works to full construction.

Suitability for the current role
Long Etango project leadership is documented, while later responsibilities remain less specific
Project Director from 2009-08-31; current Project Advisor listed in 2026; title transition date unknown · analyst inference · low materiality
Bannerman’s 2010 Annual Report lists Turney as Project Director from 31 August 2009 and says he had overall responsibility for Etango development, reporting to the CEO. The current issuer profile lists him as Project Advisor–Etango but does not give the title-change date or detail his later responsibilities. The issuer also describes more than 40 years in resources, operating and development roles at Homestake and Barrick, prior General Manager Leaching at Bateman Engineering, and successful development work at Cowal, Tulawaka and Eskay Creek. This experience is relevant to Etango, but the reviewed materials do not attribute specific later project outcomes to him.
Attribution: Responsibility not applicable. This is a limited analyst inference about role relevance, not a claim of personal contribution or responsibility.
Relevance: Project Advisor – Etango supports the company’s operations and governance.
