Career chronology

Education and qualifications

Issuer reports science and economic geology degrees

2024 · issuer reported · low materiality

The 2024 annual report lists BSc and MSc qualifications in economic geology; issuing institutions and awards were not independently confirmed.

Attribution: Responsibility not applicable. Issuer biography reports credentials; no independent verification was obtained.

Relevance: Relevant to his exploration leadership role.

Annual report year ended 31 December 2024 (printed p. 17; director biography)

Personal achievements

Documented Jabal Sayid exploration reporting

2009-2011 · documented · medium materiality

A 3 June 2009 Citadel announcement names Butlin as exploration manager and competent person for exploration results at Jabal Sayid. Sierra Nevada later described him as Citadel chief geologist involved in delineation. Equinox’s filed annual information form says it acquired Citadel in January 2011; Sierra Nevada’s 2024 quarterly instead describes a sale to Barrick in 2010. Barrick announced its proposed Equinox acquisition in April 2011. The precise transaction description in the later Sierra Nevada report is inconsistent with the Equinox chronology; this does not undermine the cited 2009 reporting role.

Attribution: Individual involvement documented. The 2009 source directly names him as the person compiling and consenting to the results; it does not establish sole discovery or responsibility for the later transaction.

Relevance: Relevant experience reporting Saudi copper exploration and source-chronology accuracy.

Citadel Jabal Sayid underground drilling announcement (3 June 2009; competent person note); September 2024 quarterly activities report (printed p. 11; board changes and career description); Equinox 2010 annual information form (Jabal Sayid property description and acquisition chronology); Barrick announces agreement to acquire Equinox (25 April 2011 offer; Equinox assets)

Suitability for the current role

Current technical reporting responsibilities

October 2026 · analyst inference · medium materiality

The October 2026 quarterly names Butlin as full-time chief geologist and executive director, and as the competent person for reported exploration results. The phase-2 program was ongoing; an economic discovery or mine has not yet been established.

Attribution: Responsibility not applicable. His reporting role is issuer-documented; the role-fit assessment is an inference, not evidence of future discovery.

Relevance: Relevant to oversight of the current exploration program.

Evidence gaps

  • Individual career dates and former-employer outcomes remain incomplete; broad web searches do not constitute comprehensive adverse, court, regulator, safety, environmental or governance checks.

  • Degree and professional-membership assertions are issuer-reported and have not been independently verified with the relevant institutions.

  • The October 2026 search was limited to the precise terms recorded; all retrieved results were not exhaustively reviewed.

  • The 2024 company statement says Jabal Sayid was sold to Barrick in 2010, while the Equinox filing and Barrick’s 2011 offer announcement describe a different acquisition sequence; the source discrepancy is explicitly retained.
