Mali detention and settlement

November 2024–January 2025 company report · documented · medium materiality

Malian authorities detained then-CEO Terry Holohan and two employees on 8 November 2024 amid a dispute. Resolute says all three were released on 21 November and the US$160 million settlement was paid in full, with the final instalment on 31 December 2024. The company said the protocol settled outstanding government claims preceding 31 December 2023, while discussions continued over its implementation.

Attribution: Role overlaps event; causation unproven. Eger was CFO during the dispute. The available sources do not identify him as detained or establish individual misconduct; the settlement is a company outcome.

Evidence gaps

  • Independent educational and professional credential checks were not obtained.

  • The broad web search is not comprehensive; named-employer and person-specific fraud, safety, environmental, legal and governance checks remain incomplete.

  • Issuer biographies do not establish all earlier role dates or individual contributions to company-wide outcomes.

  • Nyrstar’s restructuring followed his announced 2018 exit; no individual cause has been established. Original Mali tax claims and assessment were not independently reviewed.
